Project Health Check

Purpose

Project health checks are snapshots of the status of a project at a point in time and are typically performed at key milestones or when issues are noted. A project health check offers an objective assessment of how well the project is performing against stated objectives and in accordance with relevant processes and standards. Our independent project health checks give a balanced and impartial view, providing management with information they need.

Health checks can also be to starting point for a capability improvement process – or may uncover the requirement for more urgent remedial, project rescue services.

Composition

Health checks use an observation/recommendation approach where depending on the stage of the project and the methodology being used, expected processes, functions and artefacts are assessed. Observations about them are recorded and any recommendations about changes in approach are provided. An overall assessment of project health is also provided.

Where required, recommendations for remedial action or ongoing capability improvement are also included in a project health check report.

Derivation

The key questions to ask in determining a point in time health check on a project are derived from a combination of project delivery experience and indicators drawn from a range of project management methodologies.

Format & Presentation

Findings of a project health check are presented in a brief report and presentation.
